Representing Professional Actors and Print Talent in the Southeast


New Talent Requirements
Coastal Talent represents professional actors, voice over and print talent in the Southeast.
  • We do NOT represent children under five years old.
  • We are a boutique agency and keep our actor categories limited.
  • We follow all SAG-AFTRA union rules.
  • We are paid through an agency fee of 10% of talent’s gross salary that is added by the Production Companies for union work, and 15-20% for non-union jobs and print work.
  • We interview professional talent with training and principal role experience in film & television.
  • We book our talent in principal roles for film, TV, commercial, industrial and print work.
  • We do not do extra work, conventions or pageants.
  • There are no fees required to be represented by Coastal Talent.

If you need to build your resume we suggest auditioning for every independent film or “indie” in your area as well as student films thorough local film schools. There is a list of websites on our resources page that can help you find “indies.” We are not affiliated with any product or service providers on our resources page.

Representation Requirements:
  • Talent is required to have email and cell phone with voice mail.
  • Talent is required to check email twice per day and reply to our email within 24 hours.
  • Talent must be able to return our call within two hours and go on an audition with only one day’s notice.
We submit our talent to Casting Directors throughout the Southeast region, and we represent our talent exclusively to Casting Directors home-based in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia regardless of where a project is filmed. For example, if you have another agent in FL , they cannot submit you to any of the NC, SC or GA home-based Casting Directors.

To submit to Coastal Talent:
  • Read all of the above before you submit your materials for consideration.
  • Send your headshot, resume and your demo reel with professional work via U.S. MAIL or email.
  • Include your phone number and email address.
  • If you are an adult actor, you must include your demo reel to be considered for acting work.
  • You may include a webpage link to your demo reel in your cover letter.

We cannot return materials submitted. We will contact you after we review your submission. Due to the high volume of submissions received, it can take up to 30 days for us to respond. Do not call the office. If you have any questions, send an email.

Expectations and Tips
  • Audition & Filming Workbag to keep in your car at all times with the following contents:
  • Folder with 6 headshots with current resumes, neatly trimmed and attached to back of headshot.
  • Change of general audition clothes in case you spill something on the way to the audition.
  • Pen, paper, comb, mints and water.

What we expect from our talent:
  • We expect you to take at least 2 classes each year.
  • Headshots should be updated every 2 years or anytime your look (i.e. hair, weight) changes noticeably.
  • Resumes should be in our company format; see the sample resume on our resources section.
  • Talent is required to have email, check it at least twice a day, and reply to our email within 24 hours.
  • Talent is required to have a cell phone with voice mail, and return our call within 2 hours.
  • Talent is expected to go on an audition with only one day’s notice.
  • You are expected to always know the script and be in character at auditions.
  • If you have to cancel an audition or job, never use email, call no matter what time it is. We check voicemail after hours.
  • When leaving a phone message, always leave your first and last name and the number you are calling from so we can return your call.
  • You must “book out” via email when going out of town and/or not available to go on auditions.
  • Use email to ask routine questions. Call with urgent questions.
  • If Coastal Talent sends you on an audition or job, you cannot do another job for that client without going through Coastal Talent as long as you are represented by us.

Our duties towards you:
  • It is our job to negotiate contracts for you and make sure you are paid properly.
  • The paychecks come to Coastal Talent, not to you.
  • Always include Coastal Talent’s phone number and address on any forms you sign.
  • You will be mailed your check the day after it clears the bank.
  • Each project will pay at different times, some in a few days, and some in 30 days.
  • SAG-AFTRA union jobs will take out taxes.
  • A 1099 form is mailed to you each tax year from Coastal Talent for all non-union jobs totaling over $600.
  • Do not sign any contracts on set if it does not say what we told you. Call us immediately from set to discuss.
  • Do not leave set and then call us and ask about the pay, overtime, per diem, etc. If you sign it and leave, it is much harder to get you what you were due.
  • If asked to change what you were being paid to do on set, or add print to it, or anything different from what you were told, tell them you have to call your agent.
  • If you are told that you don’t need to call your agent, that is a big clue that you most certainly need to call your agent.
  • Call us and hand the phone to client, and we’ll negotiate it for you.
  • It is your agent’s job to negotiate and your job to be the congenial actor on set.
